Latest Questions about Helicopter Flight - Pilot's Choice (Queenstown)

How many people are allowed in the helicopter at 1 time?

Comments

Hiya Charlie, I hope you are well, thanks so much for your question regarding Helicopter Flight - Pilot's Choice. You can fit a maximum of 6 passengers in a Helicopter pending weights, this number may be reduced to 5 or 4 depending on the weight of each passenger. If you have a large group we can still carry you all at the same time and location with 2 helicopters split over the group.

Hi ETG Team,

If going this winter and landing on snow, is there a specific type of clothing we should be wearing? (Apologies for the unusual question. My friends and I grew up in a tropical climate.)

Thank you.

Comments

If you are planning to do this Queenstown helicopter flight in winter, there is definitely a high chance you will be landing in snow. We would recommend wearing warm layers & thick-soled s**s, as well as bringing a warm jacket.

Hi Team - just a question around pick up times, as it mentions 10.30 departure - does this mean if choosing the 12pm flight time, we would have to wait around onsite once being picked up from QT central at 10.30? cheers!

Comments

Hi Rachel. Thanks for your question regarding the Helicopter Flight in Queenstown called the Pilot's choice. The pick up times allow enough time to be transported from Queenstown, out to the airport and then enough time for the check in process before the flight. So while there is some time where you will be onsite before the flight, you won't be waiting around for very long.

hi i am wanting to book a 12pm flight on 7th july, i can see that transport is not included so where do i need to drive to for this trip?

Comments

The pilots choice is a great option that does include transport if required! they will pick you up 30 minutes prior to your heli flight. Alternatively, you can self drive to their depot located at 29 Lucas place, near Queenstown airport.

How many people go on the helicopter? I'm hoping to gift this for my friend's honeymoon so would prefer it to be for just 2 people.

Hi Naomi. Thanks so much for contacting us about the Pilot's Choice Helicopter Flight in Queenstown. There is a maximum of 6 people for the general public flights, however, you can also charter the helicopter so that it is a private flight for your group.

I am disabled, artificial legs, will need alot of help getting on and off a helicopter

Comments

Thank you for your question. The best suggestion is to book it in so that you have your guaranteed slot, and then the day before come to the hanger to assess and they can figure out the best way for you to get access to the helicopter. If you are not able to, then we can certainly give you a full refund.

Good afternoon,
My partner and I are travelling down to Queenstown for our anniversary in March and I was going to surprise him with a helicopter ride.
I was wondering if there was a weight limit? and also if the weather was to be bad on that day and we could not fly, would we get a refund due to bad weather?
if you could please let me know that would be great :)
Thank you

Comments

Thank you for your question. No, there is no weight limit and if there are bad weather conditions and the flight is not able to go ahead, the operator will try to reschedule your flight or you can receive a full refund.

Hi there, I am interested in booking a flight. We are wanting to stop relatively high up and in snow, we will book for the end of August. Will we land in snow at this time of year or would we need to book the more expensive snow landing flight? Thank you :)

Comments

Hi Julia, Thanks for your question. It all depends on the weather and how much snowfall there has been. The Alpine Adventure tour takes you out further and goes for a longer time, so your chances for a snow landing is higher.

For the heli ride, does it require that a certain number of people be flying? As I'm interested but I'll be on my own.

Comments

Flights do require minimum numbers to run, so just let us know when you want to fly and we can check for a confirmed trip for you which will enable you to travel with other passengers and get out on this awesome experience!

Hi I’m interested in the helicopter ride but wondering why you have recommended sturdy footwear. Is this for snow landings?
The reason I ask is we will be in Queenstown next week and my younger son can no longer ski due to a knee injury - so we are looking for things he can do. I’m wondering if there will be any unsteady ground etc ? Thank you

Comments

We recommend sturdy footwear as you will be landing on a mountain therefore the ground can be uneven, particularly in winter when there will be snow. This will still be a fabulous activity for him as he can choose not venture too far from the helicopter when it lands.
