Checkin was easy and smooth, baggage drop off 30 minutes prior. Trip over was bumpy to the squeals and delights of lots of school children on board.
Return trip was early morning and smooth. I was thrilled to see an Albatross flying alongside! Made my day.

The Crew on the ferry are very friendly and professional, look after the passengers who had seasick, the captain is clam and skillful, he gives us a good commentary and tried to comfy the passengers while we were in the rough condition. I came to Steward Island in a very bad sea condition, but I would like to thank you for the captain and the Crew, to look after us so well, thank you.

Although it was rough weather when I went over to Stewart Island, the captain and crew handled things exceptionally. They were very kind and hospitable which made the trip over way easier. I would recommend this trip to anyone.

I wanted to change my dates and even l was Not Sure and changed back and forward still friendy, l have been lmpressed, luggage very fast to be picked up, toiletts at terminal ans ferry. Ferry Staffel very safety thoughtful and clear.
Nothing to add, just best Trip. Everybody is very friendly and helpful at Steward Island and Bluff.

A most professional service. Staff friendly and helpful. Our captain, Graham, warned us on the way to Stewart Is that we might be "punching" into the swell, but we felt comfortable and confident in him. He was informative about landmarks, etc - much appreciated. On the way back the following day the weather was perfect and the sea calm - a perfect journey with many peacefully snoozing. :)

The island tours were great! Natasha was a wonderfully knowledgeable , friendly guide who helped everyone to feel comfortable, and appreciated! She was lots of fun!
Rhys, the bus driver of our Stewart Island tour, was most enjoyable company who shared his amazing knowledge of the island’s past and present with pride and skill, as well as a sense of humour! We thoroughly enjoyed his company!

A very informative guide & unique experience visiting Stewart Island. We would have liked to have walked down to the beach thou, as other groups advised they did, however we did get out of the mini bus to view the chain

Hi. We have reservations to take the ferry to Stewart Island from Bluff on Dec 1 and returning to Bluff on Dec 4. We will be embarking on a Heritage Expedition boat at the Bluff port on the afternoon of Dec 4 and want to find out if there is any risk of the ferry not running on Dec 4 (we don't want to miss our embarkation onto the Heritage boat). Can you advise me on how often either the weather or anything else delays or cancels the ferry? thanks!
am tramper and staying wednesday night at "amble inn holiday park", how do i get to ferry for steward island (thursday 09.45) from campground , is there a public transport option available?
We would like to book the 3 day Real Rakiura trip but also would like to stay 1 more day to do the walk on the Rakiura track.

The Rakiura Package on Stewart Island can be spread out across 3 days or if you widh to stay longer, let us know and we can extend the trip and book your return ferry at a later date.

We recommend booking in advance for the Stewart Island ferry as it is subject to filling up closer to the date. Especially if you are staying overnight or need certain times to get back to Bluff as it guarantees you get on the ferry you require.

We do not have any student rates for the Stewart Island Ferry. As of March 2024, the adult rate (16yo+) is $220 return and child rate (5-15yo) is $110 return.
