Join Wildwire Wanaka for a uniquely New Zealand waterfall via ferrata experience. Via ferrata is climbing via a series of iron rungs, steel cables and wire bridges which creates an accessible route on otherwise steep rock walls. On your climb, discover beautiful waterfalls, crystal clear water and spectacular views. There is a tour available for all skill & fitness levels below.
Wildwire Wanaka is the only waterfall via ferrata in New Zealand! Situated at the Twin Falls near Treble Cone Ski field and on the road to Mt Aspiring National Park, the scenery in itself is simply breathtaking. The Twin Falls, as the name suggests, is a unique double waterfall that cascades through a number of pools and free hanging waterfall sections.
Level 1 - Easy Tour of Lower Section
Begin your adventure by meeting at the Twin Falls Waterfall climbing base. Master the safety skills before embarking on your climbing adventure, navigating the Twin Falls in a small group with attentive guides as you stay dry. Enjoy exclusive access, cross 4 suspension bridges and unbeatable views of the surrounding lakes and mountains - including Mount Aspiring. Once at the lower section finishing point you will stop to enjoy the scenery before descending back by trail to the bottom.
Suitable for beginners. Basic fitness required - must be able to climb a ladder & walk on hilly terrain for up to 2 hours.
Level 2 - Intermediate Tour of Upper Section
This adventurous climb builds on the skills learnt on the lower sections of the waterfall and heads into the steeper upper walls. You will learn safety skills and then begin your climb up our spectacular waterfall via ferrata to finish at the base of a plunging 60m waterfall. Throughout this climb, you will cross 6 suspension bridges and climb 320 metres vertical alongside cascading waterfalls. You are rewarded with spectacular views of Lake Wanaka and Mount Aspiring.
Suitable for beginners. Good fitness required - must be able to climb a ladder & walk on hilly terrain for up to 4 hours.
Level 3 - Advanced Tour of Upper Section & Heli Ride
The level 3 climb is the most extreme Lord of the Rungs option, taking you to the top of the Highest Waterfall Cable Climb in the World! Perfect for thrillseekers, the climb includes 7 suspension bridges (including a 2 wire bridge) and an exciting 450 metre vertical climb. You will even climb behind a 60 metre waterfalls and through an overhang, which is a truly unique experience. Once at the top, you will be rewarded with a helicopter ride off the top!
Good fitness & body strength required - must be able to scramble up & down on hilly terrain for 5-7 hours.
Wildwire Wanaka is an experience of a lifetime and a must do when you are in the area. No previous experience is necessary and all the relevant training and guidance will be provided on the day by your experienced guides.

Unfortunately you would need a guide to come round with you for Via Ferrata Climbing regardless of how experienced you are
