Waka Abel Tasman offer a unique expedition where you can experience what sailing in a waka is like. Share in New Zealand's treasured heritage by paddling in a double-hulled (waka tuarua) or single-hulled outrigger canoe (waka ama). Split Apple Rock Paddle
Paddle your waka along the coast to Split Apple Rock (Toka Ngawhā) an iconic location on the Abel Tasman coastline. Marvel at the magnificent scenery encompassing you on your journey. By the end of this two hour return trip you'll have an understanding of just how empowering participating in a waka crew is.
Start and finish your trip with a blessing (karakia) for protection. Learn the etiquette (tikanga) associated with waka before familiarising yourself with the boat and embarking on your journey (haerenga).
