Hanmer Springs is a small village in New Zealand's South Island region of Canterbury, surrounded by imposing mountains and forests with fresh, alpine air. The town was discovered in the late 1850's for its famous hot springs and access was originally provided by the Waiau River.
The village is now more easily accessible via state highway 7, just a 90 minute drive from Christchurch.
