Description

Many call Milford Sound the eighth wonder of the world and a tour with Altitude Tours will show you just why that is! This Small Group Milford Sound tour provides you with a truly unique and interactive experience to give you a day to remember with true Kiwi hospitality. The small premium Mercedes vans seat a maximum of 16 passengers providing you with the most intimate and personal way to visit Milford Sound on a coach, cruise, coach trip from Queenstown.

As you travel to the Fiordland National Park take in the rich farm country of Southland and the spectacular mountains as your guide for the day provides you with informative commentary on your surroundings. Best of all, you are guaranteed a glass roof on the coach so you can best enjoy all the scenery on your journey!

Enjoy a 1.75-hour scenic nature cruise on a spacious purpose-built boat with large windows ensuring the best views of the magnificent waterfalls and mountains. During the cruise be on the lookout for native wildlife such as dolphins, seals and penguins.

Sit back and enjoy cruising the fiord while tucking into a delicious packed picnic lunch (optional extra). If you have any dietary requirements just let us know and we can discuss the options.

If you'd rather not coach both ways then you can book the Coach Cruise Fly or Coach Cruise Heli option instead which includes a spectacular flyback from Milford Sound to Queenstown.

The service was excellent. Communication was great, the tour was great, good value, the tour guide was first class. It was a long day but worth it. My only comment is the trip home after the cruise could have done with an extra 10 minute stretch.

Great service, entertaining tour guide who made the lengthy journeys pass very smoothly. We felt safe in his hands as his driving was very confident and he knew exactly when to stop for everyone's comfort. The boat journey was fantastic, very special and an incredible 'must do' for this area.

How long is the tour from start to finish?

This tour starts around 6:30am (depending where you get picked up from in Queenstown/your accommodation) and you return back to Queenstown around 7pm (depending on the traffic)

Hiya Thanks so much for your question regarding the Altitude Tours - Small Group Milford Sound Coach Cruise Coach. Yes, there would be a minimum number of 4 pax on this trip however this tour is extremely popular and it is usually booked out as they can only take a maximum of 16 passengers per group.

Hi, how big is the boat and how stable is it? A couple of people in our group get motion sickness easily on boats.

The operator uses a purpose-built vessel that was purposely designed for cruising the waters in Milford Sound. The vessels can carry up to 60 - 75 people max, which still leaves plenty of room and space for customers to roam around. The vessels are incredibly safe with professional skippers and crew onboard.

Are the van and cruise boat equipped with toilet facilities? Are there designated restroom stops during the 4.5 hr drive from Queenstown to Milford Sound?

Sadly there is no toiler facility on the bus, but there can be up to 4 stops on the way down to Milford Sound. So plenty of time to visit a restroom, just ask the driver. And there will be a toilet available on the boat while you cruise the Fiordland.
