Is the price shown on the website for the Original Onsen in Queenstown? Is the price per pool or per person?

The pricing on this listing is for the Original Onsen experience, which includes a retractable roof. If you would like to book 1 pool for 2x adults, you would need to select 1 unit of 2x Adults. This allows you to book one private Original Onsen pool for the two of you.

What is the best or most popular time of the day in January to visit the Onsen? Does the sun set here? Is sunset time a popular time or it doesn’t really make a difference? Thanks a lot!

Comments

The onsen is a very popular activity for any time of the day. It is usually popular at night time as you are able to see the night sky, though any time is beautiful. The sun doesn't set where the onsen pools are located though it is still a very scenic area.

Hi there, would the landscape scenery be visible at all at night? also, if we did the candlelit option, do you think this would make the night sky and scenery any less visible? Thank you :)

Comments

You cannot see as much at night from the Onsen hot pools but if the moon is out and the sky is clear then you can still see some of the landscape. The candles don't effect your ability to see outside too much as they aren't especially bright. The hot pools in Queenstown are really busy at night during winter so we do recommend booking well in advance.

Hi Can you please advise if we can do the indulgence package but with candles and make it for around 8 or 9 pm? It would be for our last night in Queenstown on 4 January. If so I will book with you. Please advise thank you

Comments

Hi Anne, unfortunately the Candle Package won't be available at that time as it will still be light at 8pm and 9pm in January so the candles are only available for 10pm pools. You would still be able to have the indulgence pack at 8 or 9pm though.

Hi there my fiance and I are coming to queenstown next weekend 13th of June and would love to come to the hot pools on the Saturday at night time are all the pools private? ans is one hour sufficient ? as we were looking at around 9pm? as we wouild like to include a couple packages too :) we are staying at scenic suites can we get the courtesy coach to and from ?

Comments

Hi AJ. Yes all the Onsen hot pools in Queenstown are private. One hour is the standard length of time you can book the hot pools for and this is sufficient for most people although you can extend the time when you are there if there is availability. If you book at night after the sun goes down (after 9pm in summer and 5pm in winter) then you can also book the candlelight package. The indulgence or pamper packs are available at any time.  The bus will pick you up from out the front of the Station building in central Queenstown 30 minutes prior to your booking and bring you back afterwards.

Hi there,
We are travelling to Queenstown in December. Would like to try the Night time pool. Which timing should we be looking at? Is it possible to select the night time without the candlelight option?

Comments

Hi Lena

If you would like to do the Onsen Hot Pools in Queenstown during December then I would suggest booking the last trip time of 9pm. This will ensure you are going during the late evening as it gets darker. You do not have to book the candle light package with this time if you don't want to.

Hi Lisa, yes it certainly is, you just need to note it in the "additional information" field when you make your booking for the Queenstown Onsen Hot Pools and we will arrange it for you. If there is 2 of you booking for a pool it will cost $144 for you both for 2 hours. The cost is $40 each for the first hour and then $16 each per additional 30 mins. The Onsens are fabulous in winter!

Is the absoloute maximum 4 adults per tub? We have 5 and would prefer not to have to split up because of one to many.

Comments

Hi Teagan. Yes unfortunately the maximum number of adults allowed in an Onsen Hot Pool in Queenstown is 4. You really wouldn't want anymore in there as it would be too congested. If there are 5 of you then you will need to book 2 pools, 1 for 3 adults and 1 for 2 adults.

me and my wife would love to do it after the jet boating. according to your experience, would one hour be enough? or we need two hours? I guess the changing and shower time included in the time as well,

Comments

Hi Andriy yes one hour in the Onsen Hot Pools is generally enough. If you are getting transfers from Queenstown they pick you up half an hour before your pool time so that gives you enough time to get organised when you get there. If you want to book for two hours you are more than welcome to you just pay for the pool again for the second hour.
