Hiya Fairlie, I hope you are well. Thanks so much for your question regarding the Lake Fishing Experience - Queenstown Fishing - Fly Fishing trip. For this trip they actually use neither of those methods, they use what is called an imitation insect instead, they come in all sorts of varieties and colours, some are small and large and some will sit on the top and others along the bottom, it would depend on which fish we are looking to catch as to which one will be suitable.
