Description
If you’re looking for a seriously thrilling rafting experience, then the Rangitaiki River at Rotorua has you covered! The river melds magical scenic surroundings with an adrenaline filled rapid experience – a perfect combination for a day out. From the sheer excitement of 'Geoff's Joy' – a torrent of whitewater so action packed, that it has gained its own name – to the spectacular flora and fauna that engulfs you in its natural beauty; the Rangitaiki River will have you in awe, and will leave you just a little bit scared (in a good way!).
If you are looking for an excellent team building day for your employees or workplace team – or just a day out with family or friends – then The River Rats Rangitaiki Whitewater rafting adventure is a perfect choice. The rapids themselves are allocated a severity level, based on the intensity of the whitewater and the 'drop' of the cliffs. Rangitaiki River is a grade 3-4 within the grading system. The grades range from 1 – which is mild and slow, great for families and people that like to slowly take in the scenery – to grade 5 – which is insane and definitely not for the faint of heart. River grade 3-4 gives you the fun and magical experience of whitewater rafting, inside a safe environment, that is perfect for adventure lovers who would prefer to keep their pants clean!
The Rangitaiki Rapids adventure is also a perfect option for a trial run, before you attempt a more difficult Grade 5 river. The river itself definitely still holds its own in the excitement and fun stakes, but without the sheer drops commonly encountered along more intense rapid adventures.
The meeting place is the base of Murupara, which is just 45 minutes from Rotorua. They also offer a pick up and drop off, and they can arrange a shuttle to pick you up from your central Rotorua accommodation.
