This indoor astronomy centre offers a unique insight into the night sky, spanning an astonishing 13.8 billion years. You will also have the chance to learn about Maori astronomy - tatai aroraki - and how this played a pivotal part in Maori heritage. This daytime indoor experience is perfect for families with young children or those passing through Lake Tekapo but not staying the night for outdoor stargazing.
The Dark Sky Experience is a perfect fusion of Maori heritage and cutting-edge multimedia installations, offering a breathtaking 'Big Bang' of awe and inspiration. Immerse yourself in this world-first indoor stargazing adventure, departing hourly in multiple languages, including English, Chinese, and Japanese.

- The Dark Sky Diner (located in the main Dark Sky Project office in Tekapo) operates Thursday to Monday (3pm - 9pm)
